ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Ibero-America

Ibero-America is a special way of talking about countries that speak Spanish or Portuguese. Just like you might talk about a group of friends that you like to hang out with, these countries have decided to be friends and work together.

There are 19 countries in Ibero-America, including Spain, Portugal, Mexico, Brazil, and Argentina. They all have their own special cultures and ways of doing things, but they have a lot in common, too.

One thing they share is their history. Many of these countries were once ruled by Spain or Portugal a long, long time ago. Even though they're independent now, they still speak the languages that were brought over by the early Spanish and Portuguese colonizers.

Another thing they share is their culture. People in Ibero-America enjoy similar foods, music, sports, and traditions. For example, you might see people dancing the salsa or tango in any of these countries!

But Ibero-America isn't just about having fun together. These countries also try to help each other out. They work together to solve problems, like fighting poverty and improving education. They also have special meetings where they talk about important issues and share ideas.

Overall, being a part of Ibero-America means being part of a big, friendly group where everyone helps each other out and celebrates their similarities and differences.
