Immunity from prosecution (international law)

Okay kiddo, so you know how there are rules and laws that we have to follow, right? Well, these rules also apply to people who have important jobs, like leaders of countries or diplomats who represent their countries when they visit other places.

Immunity from prosecution is a special rule that says that these important people cannot be arrested or punished for things they do while doing their important jobs. This is because they need to be able to do their jobs without fear of being punished by a different country or government.

However, this doesn't mean that they can do whatever they want and get away with it! If someone does something really bad, like committing a crime, then the rules change and they can be held accountable for their actions.

It's similar to when you're playing a game with your friends and you make a special rule that says "this person can't be tagged" because they have a really important job to do that helps the game. But if that person starts breaking other rules, like cheating or being mean, then they can no longer be immune from being tagged and have to follow the same rules as everyone else.

So, immunity from prosecution is a special rule that helps important people do their jobs without fear of being punished, but it only applies under certain conditions and they still have to follow the same laws and rules as everyone else.
