Implicit stereotypes

Okay, kiddo, let's talk about implicit stereotypes. Do you know what a stereotype is?

It's when people have ideas about how someone should look, act, or talk based on what they think they know about their appearance or beliefs. Implicit stereotypes are ones you might not even realize you have.

Imagine you see a picture of a ballerina. You might think they all wear tutus and have curly hair. But what if you saw a ballerina with short hair or a different outfit? You might not think she looks like a ballerina because of your implicit stereotype that ballerinas have certain looks.

Implicit stereotypes can affect how we think about people and make assumptions without even realizing it. It's important to recognize them and try to understand how they might be harming others.
