ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Incline elevator

An incline elevator is a special kind of elevator that is able to go up and down steep hills or mountains. It works kind of like a car on a roller coaster, but instead of being on a track, it's on a special inclined rail.

The elevator itself actually sits at an angle, which helps it stay balanced as it moves up and down the hill. It's kind of like balancing a toy on top of a ball – if the ball is tilted, the toy will stay upright. The elevator is able to move up and down the hill by using a special system of cables and pulleys that pull it along the rail.

In order to get on and off the incline elevator, people usually use special platforms or walkways that are built next to the rail. This keeps them safe and helps them get on and off the elevator without falling off the hill.

Overall, incline elevators are really cool machines that allow people to travel up and down hills and mountains safely and easily.
