ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Stairlift

Alright kiddo, have you ever seen grownups using a special chair that moves up and down the stairs? That's called a stairlift!

It's actually pretty cool because some people have trouble climbing stairs because their muscles are weak or they have a hard time balancing. But with a stairlift, they can sit on the chair and it will take them up or down the stairs comfortably and safely.

The chair is attached to a rail that runs up the side of the stairs, and the chair moves along that rail using a motor that is operated by buttons on the chair's armrest.

Think of it like a rollercoaster ride, but on stairs instead of a track! And instead of going fast and upside down, you're going nice and slow and staying upright the whole time.

Stairlifts are really helpful for people who can't move around easily, and they make it possible for them to stay in their home and go up and down the stairs whenever they need to.
