Indian caste system

Okay, kiddo, imagine you are playing in a group with your friends. In that group, each of you has a different role and responsibility, right? Similarly, in India, people have been divided into different groups called castes based on their work and family background.

So, there are four main castes - Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas, and Shudras. The Brahmins are at the top of the caste system, and they are the priests, scholars, and teachers. Kshatriyas are warriors and rulers, Vaishyas are merchants and traders, and Shudras are laborers and servants.

But some people didn't fit into any of these castes, for example, if they were born to parents who didn't belong to any caste, they were called 'untouchables' or Dalits. They were treated very badly and not allowed to live like normal people.

This caste system is ancient and has been practiced for thousands of years. Although it has been officially abolished by the Government, still sometimes people follow it even today. It is not right to treat people differently based on their caste. Everyone should be treated equally, and no one should be discriminated against because of their birth.
