Dear little one, have you ever felt like you needed to know something, but didn't know where to find it? That's called an information need!
Let's say you wanted to know what the tallest mountain in the world is. You have an information need because you don't know the answer yet. To find the answer, you might ask someone who knows, or you might go online to search for the answer.
Sometimes, we have information needs we don't even know about yet! For example, if you've never heard of the planet Jupiter before, you wouldn't know you have an information need about it until you find out it exists.
Having information needs is very normal and it happens to everyone. It's a natural part of learning and exploring the world around us. So, next time you have a question or want to know something new, remember that you have an information need, and take the time to search for the information to satisfy it.
