ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Intellectual property policy

Imagine you made a really cool drawing or invented a new toy. This is called your intellectual property. Just like how your things belong to you, your intellectual property belongs to you too.

When you have something that belongs to you, you might have some rules about how other people can use it. Like if you have a toy that you love, you might not want someone else to break it or take it away from you.

Intellectual property policy is a set of rules about how people can use your intellectual property. It's like a list of guidelines about what other people can and can't do with your stuff.

So, if anyone else wants to use your drawing or your toy, they have to follow these rules. If somebody doesn't follow these rules, it means they might be stealing from you. And nobody likes getting their things stolen, right?

That's why we have intellectual property policy. It helps us to protect the things that we create and make sure that nobody takes them away without permission!
