Okay kiddo, imagine you and your friend are playing with your toy cars. You both have your own cars and you're driving them around, but all of a sudden, your cars crash into each other! That's kind of like what happens with interacting galaxies.
In space, there are a bunch of big groups of stars and objects called galaxies. Like your toy cars, some galaxies can accidentally bump into each other and create what we call an "interacting galaxy."
When two galaxies interact, they can get all mixed up, kind of like if you and your friend's toy cars got stuck together after they crashed. The two galaxies can stretch and pull each other's arms out, so they look all weird and distorted.
Sometimes when two galaxies interact, they can even collide, and that can form new stars! It's like if you and your friend's toy cars crashed and a bunch of new toy cars popped out.
Interacting galaxies are really cool to scientists because they can tell us a lot about how galaxies form and change over time.
