So, you know how we have stars in our own galaxy, the Milky Way? Well, there are lots of other galaxies out there too, like the Andromeda Galaxy and the Whirlpool Galaxy.
Sometimes, stars can leave their home galaxy and move around freely in space. When a star like this travels far enough away from its galaxy, it becomes what we call an "intergalactic star."
This means that it's a star that doesn't belong to any specific galaxy anymore and is just floating around in the vast emptiness between galaxies. It can be a lonely life for intergalactic stars, but they're still pretty cool to think about.
