ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Intern

An intern is like a helper who is learning how to do a job. Just like how you learn how to do things at school, an intern is someone who is learning how to do things at work. They might be students or people who are new to a job, and they get to work alongside other people who already know what they're doing. The intern can ask questions and try things out, but they might not get paid a lot or at all because they are just there to learn. Think of it like how you might help your mom or dad in the kitchen and learn how to cook and clean up after dinner.
