ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Involuntary treatment

Involuntary treatment means when someone gets treatment for their mental illness or disorder even though they don't want to. This usually happens if the person isn't able to make decisions for themselves, or if they are doing things that could be dangerous to themselves or others. It means that someone else like a doctor or family member (with permission from the court) can make decisions about the person's treatment.
