ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Islamic feminism

Okay, kiddo. Islamic feminism is when women who practice the religion of Islam also want to have equal rights and opportunities as men. It's like when you and your friends want to play the same games and have the same toys as each other, and be treated equally.

In Islam, there are some rules and ways of doing things that have been around for a very long time. Some people think that these rules only apply to men and that women aren't as important. But Islamic feminists believe that women should have a voice too and that they should be able to do things like pray and have important roles in the community, just like men can.

They also believe that women should be able to have jobs and be leaders in society, just like men can. They think that it's important for women to be able to make their own choices and have control over their bodies, like being able to choose who they marry, or being able to use birth control if they want to.

So basically, Islamic feminism is a way of saying that women who practice Islam should be able to have the same rights and opportunities as men, and that everyone should be treated equally, no matter what their gender is.
