ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Jaywalking

Jaywalking is when someone walks across the street outside of a designated area, like a crosswalk or intersection. It's dangerous because the person crossing is not following the rules of the road and can walk right in front of a car. It could also cause an accident if a car doesn't have time to stop for the jaywalker and hits them. So it's important to always follow the rules when crossing the street and only do so in a designated area.
