ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Jian dui

Jian Dui is a yummy sweet treat that people in China like to eat. It's also called sesame balls because it's fully coated in tiny sesame seeds.

Picture a round ball that's crispy on the outside, but soft and chewy on the inside. That's what Jian Dui looks and tastes like.

Jian Dui is made from a yummy dough made up of rice flour and water, and stuffed with different fillings like red bean paste, sesame paste or peanut butter. Once the filling has been put inside, the dough is shaped into a ball, and then rolled in sesame seeds.

After the ball has been rolled in the sesame seeds, it's placed carefully in a hot oil pan and fried until it becomes crispy and golden brown.

The sesame balls are then removed from the oil and left to cool a little bit, so they're not too hot to touch. But once they're ready to eat, they're delicious!

Jian Dui is a popular snack in China and can be found in many specialty shops or markets. It's a fun treat to try if you want to taste something sweet, crunchy and chewy all at the same time.
