ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Kalyāṇa-mittatā

Kalyāṇa-mittatā is a word that means having good friends. It is like having friends who want to help you be the best version of yourself.

Think about it like this - remember when you go to a playground and you try to climb the monkey bars for the first time? It's scary and you might not be able to do it by yourself, right? But if you have a friend who is there to help you and support you, it makes it so much easier! Having someone to encourage you and help you is what kalyāṇa-mittatā is all about.

It's important to have good friends who will be there for you when you need them, but also tell you the truth even when it's hard to hear. They will help you grow and become a better person.

Just like how you have good friends on the playground, in real life too, you need good friends who will be your support system, help you learn new things, and be there for you in both happy and sad times. Having kalyāṇa-mittatā is like having a team of good friends who will always have your back!
