Kerosene lamp

Okay kiddo, so a kerosene lamp is kind of like a candle. Do you know what a candle is? It's something that you can light up to make a room brighter when it's dark outside.

But a kerosene lamp uses something called kerosene instead of a wick and wax. Kerosene is a type of fuel that can burn and give off light just like a candle.

The kerosene is stored in a container called a font, and there is a wick that sticks out of the top of the font. When you light the wick, the kerosene starts to burn and gives off a warm glow.

And the neat thing about a kerosene lamp is that you can regulate the amount of light it gives off. Just like when you turn a light switch to make it brighter or dimmer, you can adjust a kerosene lamp's brightness by turning a little knob that moves the wick up or down.

So that's what a kerosene lamp is, it's just like a candle but uses a fuel called kerosene instead of wax and it has a little knob to change how bright it is. Cool, huh?
