Khanom Chan is a yummy dessert that comes from Thailand. Think of it like a cake, but it's made with a lot of different layers full of different colors.
First, we make a sweet, sticky rice flour mixture. This mixture is then divided into many small bowls, and each bowl has a different color. Popular colors are green, pink, yellow, and white.
Next, each bowl gets steamed for a little while, making the rice flour mixture firm and cooked. After all of the bowls have cooked, we layer them together like a sandwich. We put one layer of color on top of another.
There can be anywhere from six to fifteen layers of color! Once the colors are stacked, we put a yummy coconut milk mixture on top. This mixture is made with coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Then the Khanom Chan sits in the fridge to chill for a while.
When it's time to eat, we cut the Khanom Chan into small pieces, and each piece has a slice of every color. The texture is a little bit sticky and jelly-like, and it's super sweet and delicious!
