King Michael's Coup

When some people work together to take over a country's power, that's called a coup. A very long time ago, in 1944, Romania's King Michael did a coup. This means he managed to take over the power in Romania with the help of other people.

King Michael believed that the people in charge of Romania at that time were not good leaders because they were being too friendly with another country that he didn't trust. So he threw them out and put some other people to make the rules. This is like when you're playing with toys and one of your friends is playing too rough, so you ask them to stop and ask another friend to join you instead.

Some people were happy that King Michael managed to take over the power, and some people were angry. But King Michael believed that he was doing the right thing for his country.
