Klepht

Okay kiddo, so a klepht is kind of like a Robin Hood in Greece's history. They were people who lived in the mountains of Greece and would steal from rich people and give to poor people.

The word "klepht" comes from the Greek word "kleptein" which means "to steal". But the klephts weren't just regular thieves who stole for themselves. They stole from the rich who were usually corrupt and didn't care about the poor people.

The klephts were also kind of like heroes to the people who were struggling to survive. They would protect their village from bandits and other bad people who would try to harm them.

The klephts were active during a time in Greece's history when the Ottoman Empire ruled over Greece. The Ottoman Empire was very oppressive and the klephts were seen as freedom fighters who were trying to protect their land and their people.

So basically, the klephts were people who lived in the mountains of Greece, stole from the rich and gave to the poor, protected their villages from bad people, and fought against the Ottoman Empire to protect their land and their people. They were kind of like Robin Hood, but in Greece!
