Lamination (geology)

Okay kiddo, have you ever seen a really fancy recipe book with pictures of delicious food? Sometimes the pictures are made of several thin layers that make it look really cool, right?

That's kind of like what lamination in geology means: it's when different layers of earth or rock are stacked on top of each other like the pages in a book. These layers can be made of different materials or rocks, and sometimes they have different colors or textures.

When scientists study these layers, they can learn a lot about the history of the earth. They might be able to tell what kind of climate there was, what kinds of animals lived there, or even how old the rocks are. It's like reading a really cool story about the earth's past!
