ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Language production

When you want to say something, your brain sends a message to your mouth to move and make noise. That noise is the words you use to talk. But before your brain sends that message, it has to think about what it wants to say and how to say it so it makes sense. Your brain also has to know the rules of language, like using the right words in the right order and making sure the sounds you make are the right ones for the words you want to say. And when you're speaking, your brain is constantly checking to make sure you're saying things the right way and making any necessary adjustments. So, thinking, planning, and executing language production all involve your brain working very hard to communicate effectively.
