Lavacicle

Ok kiddo, have you ever heard of lava? It's a really hot and molten (that means melted) rock that comes out of volcanoes when they erupt. When lava comes out of a volcano, it can sometimes cool and harden into different shapes and forms. One of these shapes is called a lavacicle!

Lavacicles are like icicles, but they're made of lava instead of ice. They form when lava drips down from the roof of a cave or tunnel and cools as it hangs there. As more lava drips down and cools, the lavacicle gets longer and longer, just like how an icicle gets longer when water drips down and freezes.

The really cool thing about lavacicles is that they can come in all different shapes and sizes, just like icicles! Some are really skinny and long, while others are shorter and thicker. They can also be really pointy or have more rounded shapes, depending on how the lava dripped down and cooled.

So that's what a lavacicle is, a rock formation that looks like a giant icicle but is made of lava and forms when hot liquid rock cools and hardens. It's a really fascinating thing to see, but remember, if you ever come across lava, be sure to stay far away because it's really hot and dangerous!
