Legacy preferences

Legacy preferences are when a college or university gives a special preference in the admissions process to people whose parent or grandparent went to that same school. This is like getting a special pass just for being related to someone who went to the same college. This can help someone get in, even though they may not have all the grades or test scores that the school usually requires.
