ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Lepenski Vir

Lepenski Vir is a place that has some very special rocks and old things that people left behind many, many years ago. It's like an outdoor museum, kind of like a big zoo for old things!

A long, long time ago, people lived near the Danube river in Europe. They were called hunter-gatherers because they hunted animals and gathered different plants to eat. They also made some pretty cool things out of rocks and wood, like tools to help them hunt and fish.

Now, these people didn't just throw their old things away when they were done using them. Instead, they left them behind in a special place called Lepenski Vir. Here, there are lots of big rocks with carvings on them and even some houses that they used to live in!

But the best part about Lepenski Vir is that we can still see all of these things today, even though they're thousands of years old! People who study history and archaeology come to visit Lepenski Vir to learn more about how people used to live a long time ago.

So, while Lepenski Vir may seem like just a bunch of old rocks and houses, it's actually a very important place that helps us learn about our past and how people used to live a long, long time ago!
