ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Line wrap and word wrap

Have you ever tried to write a sentence or a paragraph on a piece of paper, but then you ran out of space and had to start writing on the next line? That's called line wrap! It happens because we can only fit a certain number of words or letters on one line.

Now, let's say you're typing on your computer or phone. Sometimes, when you write a really long sentence or paragraph, it doesn't all fit on one line. Instead of starting a new line on your own like we do on paper, your computer or phone can automatically do it for you. That's called word wrap! It makes your text look nice and neat because everything fits on the screen or page without any weird spacing.

In short, line wrap is when you have to start writing on a new line because you ran out of space, and word wrap is when your computer or phone automatically starts a new line for you to make everything look neat and tidy.
