ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Non-breaking space

Non-breaking space is a special kind of space that you can use when you write things down using a computer. It's like a regular space button that you press, but it's special because it doesn't let any word or letter on either side of the space to break apart or move to a new line.

Imagine typing out a long sentence with a regular space button, and when the computer is formatting the page, it decides to move one of the words to the next line by itself. That can be annoying and make your writing look weird. But with a non-breaking space, your words stay together the way you want them to.

So when you're typing, how to you use a non-breaking space? It's easy! You just hold down the "Shift" key and press the space bar at the same time. Then you'll have a special space that won't let the words it's between break apart.
