Linguistic demography is the study of how many people speak different languages in different places. It looks at the number of people who speak a certain language as well as the number of languages spoken in one area. People who study linguistic demography look at how languages spread across the world and how different language groups interact with each other. They also look at how language use changes over time, and how different languages in the same area can mix and change. For example, they might look at how English and Spanish are used together in the United States.
