ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Local purchasing

Hey kiddo, have you ever heard of local purchasing? Let me explain it to you in a way that's easy to understand!

Local purchasing is when we buy things from stores or farmers that are very close to our homes. These stores could be in our neighborhoods or even in the same town/city we live in.

When we buy things from local stores, it helps the community in many ways. The money we spend goes back into our town and helps create jobs for people who live there. It also helps the environment because the things we buy don't need to be shipped from far away, which saves fuel and reduces pollution.

Another cool thing about local purchasing is that we can buy food that is grown nearby. This is called "locally grown" food. When we eat it, we know that it's fresh and healthy because it hasn't had to travel far to get to us. Plus, it helps support farmers who live in our area.

So, local purchasing is a great way to help our community, the environment, and support local farmers. It's just like making friends with the people around us and giving them a boost!
