ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Loss aversion

Loss aversion is a way of thinking about why people don't like to lose things they already have. It means that people are more afraid of losing something they already have than they are of not getting something they want. For example, when playing a game, someone might be more afraid of losing the game than they are of not winning. This is because they already have the possibility of winning, and they don't want to imagine that being taken away.
