ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Love and hate (psychoanalysis)

Love and hate are two powerful emotions, and psychoanalysts (people who study people's behavior) look at how these emotions can affect someone. They believe that a person's emotions can be affected by early life experiences, like interactions with parents or family members. For example, someone who had a close relationship with their parents growing up might show more love for others, and someone who had a difficult relationship with their parents growing up might show more anger and hate. Psychoanalysts look at how these emotions can color and shape someone's life, and how they can be managed and learned.
