ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Machine to machine

Machine to machine (M2M) is a type of technology that connects machines to each other so that they can communicate and share data. It's like having a phone line so that two machines can talk to each other. For example, your home's thermostat can be connected to your heating system so that the temperature can be automatically adjusted. Or, the sensors on your car can be connected to the car's computer so that it can monitor the car's performance. In each case, the machines are 'talking' to each other, sharing data.
