Mainstreaming in education

Mainstreaming in education means that children with disabilities go to school with their peers who do not have disabilities. Children who have disabilities may have a harder time learning than other children, but they still deserve an education.

Mainstreaming helps children with disabilities feel like a part of the school community. It also helps other children understand and be more accepting of people who are different from them.

Teachers and other school staff work together to make sure that children who have disabilities get the support they need to learn. This might mean extra help from a special education teacher, or using technology or special tools to help them learn.

Mainstreaming is good for everyone because it makes our schools more diverse and inclusive. We can all learn from each other and be better friends when we understand and accept people who are different from us.
