Maqluba is a yummy and tasty food dish which comes from the Middle East. It's made up of three layers of different foods - there's a bottom layer of rice that's been mixed with delicious spices, then a middle layer of vegetables like eggplant, potatoes, and carrots, and finally a top layer of chicken or meat.
To cook maqluba, you need a big pot with a lid that fits tightly, so all the layers cook properly. First, you fry the chicken or meat until it's cooked and set it aside. Then you fry the vegetables in the same pan, adding more oil and spices if needed. Once everything has been cooked separately, it's time to layer the pot. You start with the bottom layer of rice, and then carefully arrange the cooked vegetables on top. Finally, you place the chicken or meat on top of the vegetables and cover it carefully with even more rice.
Once everything is in the pot, you add water until it's reaching the top layer of rice. Bring it to a boil, then let it simmer over low heat, covered, for about an hour. When everything is cooked properly and the rice has soaked up all the delicious flavors from the meat, vegetables, and spices, it's time to serve it up! You can flip the pot over onto a big platter so the layers are visible, or you can scoop it out to get a little bit of everything in each serving. Maqluba is an amazing dish that's perfect for special occasions and family gatherings.
