Metadata standards

Metadata standards are like rules that tell computers how to organize information. Imagine that a library wants all of its books to have some sort of label on them so that it can quickly find out what book is what. Metadata standards are like the labels the library puts on its books. Computers use metadata standards to more easily and quickly sort information, store it, and find it.
