Microbial electrosynthesis

Microbial electrosynthesis is when microorganisms, like bacteria, use electricity to make different kinds of chemicals. A special type of bacteria is put into a special container, and electrodes (tiny metal parts) are put into the container to make electricity. This electricity is used to power the bacteria, so that it can turn simple molecules into valuable chemicals. This is an exciting new way of making useful things, because it is more efficient, cleaner, and faster than traditional chemical methods. It also doesn't need any energy from fossil fuels, making it better for the environment.
