ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Minority stress

Minority stress is the extra stress that people can feel while they are part of a group that is not in the majority. It is the extra stress people can feel because of the way other people might treat them, because their group is not the same as most other people. For example, if someone is part of a group of people who have a different skin color, different language, or different religion than most other people, they may feel extra stress and pressure because they are not in the majority. This extra stress can lead to feeling sad or worried a lot, or feeling like you don't belong.
