ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Monocular

Okay kiddo, do you have one eye that you can use to see things around you? Great, that's called a monocular view! It means you're using just one eye to see things instead of using both.

When you use both of your eyes, you get a three-dimensional or 3D view because your brain takes in information from both eyes and puts it together to create a depth perception. This helps you judge distances and see things more accurately.

But when you use just one eye, like a pirate with an eye patch, your brain has to use other clues to figure out what's going on around you. It relies on things like the size, the shape, the position, and the texture of objects to determine how far or near they are.

So even though you might not get that 3D feeling with just one eye, your brain is still able to make sense of things and help you see the world around you. Pretty cool, huh?
