ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Monomer

Okay, kiddo! You know how when you want to build something with your building blocks, you start with just one block? That one block is like a monomer!

A monomer is basically just one tiny building block that we use to make bigger things. For example, when we want to make a long chain of plastic, we can start with one monomer called ethylene. We add lots and lots of these tiny ethylene monomers together, just like adding lots of building blocks together, and we end up with a big chain of plastic that we can use for lots of things like bags or containers!

So, a monomer is just a small building block we use to make bigger things like plastic, rubber, or even proteins in our body!
