Montgomery bus boycott

The Montgomery Bus Boycott was a protest in the 1950s to try to stop the unfair treatment of African Americans by the bus companies. African American people were made to sit in the back of the bus and pay more money than white people. So African Americans in the city of Montgomery, Alabama refused to ride the buses. They instead walked or got rides with friends to get around the city. After a few months, the bus companies gave into the protesters and agreed to end the unfair treatment of African American riders.
