Mountain range

Alright kiddo, let's talk about mountain ranges! So, you know how sometimes when you look outside you can see big hills or even mountains in the distance? Well, when a bunch of those big hills and mountains are all lined up next to each other, we call it a mountain range!

Imagine you have a bunch of blocks - some are small blocks and some are big blocks. When you stack them up on top of each other, you can make a tall tower, just like a mountain. But if you put a bunch of those tall towers next to each other, you can make a range of mountains, just like a mountain range!

Now, these mountains don't just appear out of nowhere. They're actually part of something called tectonic plates, which are like big puzzle pieces that make up the Earth's crust. When two of these plates push against each other, they can create a big bump that eventually becomes a mountain.

It takes a loooong time for mountains to form - like, thousands and thousands of years. But once they're there, they're so tall and majestic that they can even change the weather around them! They can also provide homes for animals and plants that can't live anywhere else.

So next time you see a mountain range, remember that it's not just a bunch of random hills - it's a whole bunch of big, strong mountains that took a really long time to form!
