A murder mystery is like playing pretend with your friends. You know how you play pretend and have to guess who did something like who broke the vase in the living room? That’s what a murder mystery is like, but it’s more serious because it’s about solving a pretend crime where someone has been hurt or even killed.
In a murder mystery, you pretend you are a detective, like Sherlock Holmes or Nancy Drew. You have to figure out who did the pretend crime by looking for clues, like footprints or fingerprints on things. You also get to ask other people questions to help you solve the mystery.
Sometimes people dress up in costumes and act out the mystery, like putting on a play. Other times, you can read a book or watch a movie that tells you the story of the mystery, and you have to try and solve it by yourself.
Just like in real life, it’s important to use your brain and think about the clues carefully to solve the mystery. And at the end, you find out who the bad guy is and they get punished, just like in real life!
