NSTX-U

NSTX-U is a really cool machine that scientists built to study how to make energy from nuclear reactions. It's like a really fancy stove that can get really hot, but instead of cooking dinner, it's trying to create something called plasma.

Plasma is a type of matter that's super hot and has a lot of energy in it. Scientists think that if they can figure out how to control and use plasma, they could make lots of clean energy that doesn't hurt the environment.

NSTX-U is short for "National Spherical Torus Experiment - Upgrade." Spherical means it's shaped like a ball, and torus means it has a hole in the middle. This is a special design that lets scientists create really strong magnetic fields that keep the plasma in one place so they can study it.

Scientists from all over the world use NSTX-U to do experiments and try to figure out how to make energy from nuclear reactions. It's a really important machine because if they can figure out how to make clean energy, it could help save the planet and make everyone's lives better.
