Naval mine

A naval mine is a big bomb that is placed in the water before a battle. It looks like a big metal can that is attached to a chain or rope so it is anchored to the bottom of the ocean or lake. When a ship gets close to the mine, it explodes and sinks the ship. Naval mines are used to protect waters around a country or they may also be used in a military attack.
