Neo-platonism is a way of looking at the world that comes from the ancient Greek philosopher named Plato. Plato believed that there was a 'divine realm' full of perfect ideas and forms, and that the world that we live in is a pale version of this perfect place. Neo-platonists agreed with Plato and suggested that we should try to live our lives as close as possible to this higher form of truth and beauty. They thought that we should strive to understand and study this divine realm even though we can't actually visit it.
