New Horizons
New Horizons is a special spaceship that was sent on a long trip through space to visit a far away planet called Pluto.
Before New Horizons left, scientists spent a lot of time and money to make sure that it would work really well on its journey. They even made it so that it could communicate with Earth from all the way out in space!
So, New Horizons traveled for a very long time, over 9 years! It was traveling at 58,000 kilometers per hour (that's really, really fast!). Finally, it arrived at Pluto and took lots of pictures and measurements of the planet. Scientists were very excited to see everything that New Horizons found out about Pluto, because before that, we didn't know much about it at all!
After visiting Pluto, New Horizons kept on going into outer space to learn more about other far away things. Scientists use the information that New Horizons collects to learn more about our solar system and how it all works.
