Noise induced hearing loss

Hearing loss is when you can't hear things as well as you used to. Sometimes this can happen because of loud sounds, like when you hear fireworks or construction work without using ear protection. This is called noise induced hearing loss.

Our ears work kind of like a microphone. They pick up sounds and turn them into little electrical messages that go to our brains. But if we hear really loud sounds too often, it can hurt our ears and stop them from working properly.

That's why it's important to wear ear protection, like earmuffs or earplugs, if you're going to be around loud sounds for a long time. The ear protection helps keep the loud sounds from hurting your ears.

If you do have noise induced hearing loss, there are things you can do to help. You can go to a doctor or hearing specialist to get hearing aids or other devices that can help you hear better. You can also try to avoid loud sounds in the future or always use ear protection when you're around them.
