ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Non-photorealistic rendering

Non-photorealistic rendering (NPR) is a way of drawing or painting pictures using special computer software. Instead of trying to make the picture look as realistic as possible (like a photograph), NPR is used to give the picture a different style, like a cartoon, or a painting. NPR uses techniques like lines, shading, and color to make a picture look unnatural or stylized instead of realistic.
