ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Nymph

A nymph, little one, is a baby insect or larva. It looks very different from full-grown insects, like butterflies or bees. Nymphs don't have wings, they don't fly or buzz around like grown-up insects, and they generally have a smaller body.

Nymphs live in water or on land, depending on the type of insect they grow up to be. And when they're ready to become an adult, they sometimes go through a process called molting, which is like shedding old clothes to make way for new ones. During molting, nymphs form a new exoskeleton, which is like a suit of armor, to protect their soft, growing bodies.

Overall, nymphs are like baby insects that will grow up to look very different and have many more abilities than they do when they're small.
