ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Oars

Oars are long sticks with flat, wide areas at one end called blades that are used to move a boat through the water. They work like a paddle in the water, but with longer handles. One person usually holds an oar on each side of the boat, and they push the oars against the water to make the boat move forward. It can take a lot of hard work to move a boat with oars, but it's an important way to get around on the water, especially if the boat doesn't have a motor. Oars can come in different shapes and sizes depending on the type of boat and the strength of the person using them. So, oars are like big paddles that help people move boats in the water.
